About Aspen

Aspen is a technology collective and software foundation focused on creating lightweight, efficient, and open-source tools for developers, engineers, and hobbyists. Founded with the belief that software should be simple, transparent, and powerful, Aspen builds operating systems, programming languages, development tools, and utilities designed to put control back into the hands of the user.

Aspen is recognized for its distinctive red and black branding, symbolizing power, clarity, and rebellion against bloated, overcomplicated software ecosystems. Every Aspen project is built with a minimalist philosophy: no unnecessary complexity, no corporate bloat, just pure technology.

So, what I say should be relevant to most programmers/developers, including the average Linux user:

Fuck bloat. Fuck gatekeeping. Fuck proprietary software.

We work, enforce, and abide by Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).

Our strategy? We don't know yet. But what we do WORKS, and the most important thing while developing software, is that shit works. We LEAD the next generation of software, not these big suits who are actively crashing their company into the ground.

We CREATED our tools from the ground up, we MADE our way into being an organization, and we EARNED the right to create.
